Eyes, Lips, Attitude

Seriously, Joan Crawford's (right) got too much attitude for the forties.
Sorry Madonna, nice try.
It's definitely the "smear" lipstick.

And here I am, gothing up Crawford's lipstick.

Surprise! Eyes!

Digital Pinhole

Except for the first picture and the animated yellow leaves, these were
taken with a digital pinhole camera. I basically took a sheet of black
construction paper, and rubberbanded it around my Nikon D70 body only (no lens).
Then, I poked a hole in the construction paper with a safety pin. There you go...
Digital pinhole camera. Most of the pictures turned out very desaturated, but there
were a few that were brilliantly colorful, others I saturated via photoshop. Also took
a majority of these in RAW mode, which helped with the editing.

Wood Fabric

I can't really explain it, but I'm very into wood fabric these days. It started with
these Black Milk wood leggings, which, as of this writing, are still on their way:

Maple..pretty neat. I'd like to get some wood fabric (walnut!) and try to make something out of it... but
what? Celine has a wood look for Winter 2011, as I discovered in an advertising spread in the
GIGANTIC Vogue September 2011 issue:

(Celine's winter 2011 collection) Cool ad campaign btw.

But what to make? I am thinking something structured looking, much like Celine's, though I feel this
could potentially be a too-literal interpretation of the fabric. Maybe not, as in the case above: the t-shirt
and pants look pretty awesome, especially with the different "grain" directions. My sister jokingly said a
kaftan, which would probably overdo it with head-to-toe wood fabric.

I'll update this post when I get my leggings, and if I see more wood sightings!

t-shirts and corsets

American Apparel Unisex Oversized Ringer See Thru T-Shirt; Lip Service Burning Fur You corset, Urban Outfitters pleated skirt; Urban Outfitters hat; DIY Choker, 10 years old.

Trying to rethink corsets so they don't look so damn ren-fair, hence AA t-shirt. Awesome T-shirt, by the way. Thin, kind-of-sheer, really soft. This look definitely wouldn't work with a standard oversized t-shirt. Those pleated skirts are in style right now... like the whole 'professional' or perhaps 'school-girl' look to them. Spiked collars look really dated and costumey, but I thought it went well with the spikes on the corset, which I got on sale! Hurrah
