DIY: Crystal Necklace

Not too long ago, I did a post about the raw minerals trend and a few DIY ideas. I DIYed one based on some of the tutorials from the post and made things up as I went along. Lynoire from Space Unicorn also made a quartz necklace, so check hers out too!
finished
cool-shaped crystal (I got this quartz at a New Age bookstore for $12) and 3 pieces of thread (not 2 as pictured). The thread I used is string crochet cotton/nylon blend thread.

wrap strategically around the crystal's natural grooves

do the same with the other 2 strings

after wrapping, I made a few macrame knots
I crocheted the single strands into ropes
had to add extra thread to the chain because my original threads were too short...you can kinda see the seams.

wearing it
I'm kind of wondering why I made a white-on-white necklace when most of my clothing is black. Can you wear a white necklace with dark fashion?

  1. Love it and I love what you did with all those crisscross bits at the top! I would love some more semiprecious stone jewellery but I am so poor at the moment! Still they are cheaper than diamonds, I guess, which I have never liked!

  2. Very pretty - is this the DIY you mentioned on my blog? It's turned out really well (and yes, a white necklace is of course fine).

I really need to get some quartz crystals for a DIY or two; sadly after the fringe festival, I'm more than a little skint. Ouch.

  3. Awesome! And thanks for linking my post. ^^
I think, this necklace would look best with simpler black and grey clothes because the mineral has this ethereal vibe.

  4. How beautiful!! Crystals are so powerful, in a weird way it makes me so happy to see people wear them :) white on black would look perfect, then you can always see it and it will shine on your clothes!

    1. I love rocks and crystals myself from my geology minor in college. All those crystals are millions of years old and will exist for millions of years more. Powerful stuff
