Special Occasions + wedding advice
Surprisingly, my fanciest dress is made of cotton/spandex. It's a dress my mother bought in...I think the 70s.

Shoe Trend Report @ Macy's
So, for shoe class today, I had to go to a department store
and identify current trends. I went to Macy's, THE Macy's, on 34th street.
3 trends:
Jute and cork platforms/wedges
Glitter
Extended Uppers
Below is a shoe family made from the same last. More on that on a later post.

Orange Lipstick!
I'm too lazy to wear makeup these days,
so I've ditched the rest of my makeup
in favor of a single tube of lipstick. Usually black.
But that isn't always fun, so I just bought a tube of orange.
Nothing was orange enough at sephora, so I had to get,
sigh, the Kat Von D brand lipstick.
The other oranges were too coral or super-gloss or other tastelessness,
but the KVD lipstick was just the perfect matte.
And bought matching nail polish.
So I was pretty happy to see orange lipstick on the runway this year's fashion week:

Ganguro / Manba
I've got long hair these days, and while I was looking for youtube hair tutorials, I ended up checking out a "ganguro" makeup tutorial (probably manba...but who knows, it all looks the same). I love watching the transformation between normal well-behaved school girl and fun-loving party girl the next. As she's putting on the dark foundation in the video, I get the feeling that she knows she looks a little crazy, but that's clearly the fun.
I remember thinking this look was ugly and stupid in the late 90s, early 2000s. Of course, then I was into the whole goth/industrial look and the ganguro thing was the precise opposite of the gloom and doom I loved back then. But I'm feeling a bit boring and repressed these days, what with my career issues and all. I'd love to just break out of my mold and put on neon and (I say this respectfully) clown makeup.
