100 Day Song Challenge

I've been enjoying listening to Deux Ex Machina's songs in the 100 Song Challenge, so I thought I'd join in, even though I prefer to stay on dark-fashion topics only. Though, I guess some would say that dark fashion and dark music are inclusive. For fun, I'm also including my husband's answers. He's the stereotypical eldergoth and a musician (he was on a David Bowie tribute album, sharing the same disk space as The Dresden Dolls). And a total music snob :p

Day 01: A song you know all the lyrics to.
"Creep" by Radiohead. Not only did I listen to this nonstop in junior high, but I also rediscovered this while playing Rock Band. I could sing and play the drums at the same time on expert level for both. Took a lot of practice...so I totally memorized it. For the record, I can't memorize ANYTHING.

Husband's answer: "You're so bad" by Tom Petty

Day 02: A song from the first album you ever bought. (what was the album?):

Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt. "I'm Just a Girl" is the song. I loved loved loved this song. The only album i'll ever own that resembles ska. I hate ska.

Husband's answer: "Concrete and Steel" by ZZ Top on the Recycler Album

Day 03: A song that reminds you of a night out. (when was it and where?)

Back when I had a car, I'd drive to the beach at night with my friends. I had a dedicated playlist for this activity and this was the first song ("Heart of Lillith" Inkubus Sukkubus:

Husband's answer: "Ring of Fire" Johnny Cash. Karaoke birthday party 2 years ago.

Day 04: A song you can remember your parents listening to.

My mom likes euro techno and french music. My dad likes italian and jewish songs. They both busted out Songs of Our Fathers every holiday

Husband says: "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane.

Day 05: A song a friend likes but you don't.

"Heartbreak" by The Knife. He swears by this band. "Electro-goth" he calls it. ZZZZzzz, I say

Husband says: The band is Fever Ray. I don't know the song...it goes "Where do I goooooooo."

Day 06: A novelty song.

"Werewolf bar mitzvah...spooooky scary....boys becoming men, men becoming wolves" lol

Husband says: "Eat it" by Weird Al

Day 07: One of your favourite songs.

The Black Angels "True Believers." Current favorite...I listen to this like every day. I've got like a whole story that plays in my head when I listen to this...I won't embarrass myself by explaining it but it's basically good magic and then black magic. witchy good fun. The whole album is awesome.

Husband says: "Faruca" Carlos Montoya. It's what made him learn flamenco guitar. Get ready to have your mind blown!

Day 08: A song you used to like but now hate.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO TURN DOWN YOUR SPEAKERS FOR THIS ONE. My "sound art" phase.

Husband says: "Somebody I used to know" by Gotye. (I'm shaking my head)

Day 09: A childhood memory T.V. theme tune.

Animaniacs

Husband says: inspector gadget

Day 10: A song from one of your favourite albums. (what is the album?)

"The Wretched" from NIN's The Fragile. I still think this was NIN's best album. Completely epic and beautiful.

Husband says: "Nine while nine" Sisters of Mercy First  and Last and Always.

(So a rivethead and an old-school goth boy can fall in love)

  2. Glad you decided to join in with your man! I think that this challenge makes you reveal yourself to people, and I do tend to find out more about people through music (that´s the music snob in me speaking).
I HATE somebody that i used to know as well, want to smash someone hard when i hear it. Sounds like your husband has been raised to good music (sow as Boris haha).
