Pantone Fall 2014 Colors

It's that time of year again, when I spend way too much time going through mainstream fashion's "it" colors. Here's fall 2014 (If you want to see my post on last year's fall 2013 colors, click here)... for those of you in the Southern hemisphere, you can see the newly announced spring 2015 colors here at the Pantone website.

When I first saw these, I thought Pantone was fucking with us by re-releasing spring colors, but I'm a fan after I made a few polyvore sets.

Pantone Fall 2014

Pantone Fall 2014 hats for all my dolls so they're nice and warm

Aluminum: A good basic that's perfect for the office. Not to get too ahead of ourselves, but this will look perfect in the winter with snow. I think it goes really great with Cognac for earthy looks and sea fog for more pastel looks. (see above skirt with cape, and boots/jacket on right). Also as you know, I love silver/gray hair. (see below)

Sea Fog: This color is probably one of my favorite colors ever. It's feminine but not girly. Like the least girly purplish pink ever. Always regal. I think it looks lovely in sheer/lace.

Royal Blue: I actually made the second set so I could showcase a blue velvet dress (inspired by, of course, Blue Velvet). Is there any other prettier velvet color? no....well, maybe burgundy.

Bright Cobalt: A nice color for leathers and nail polish. I think it also looks very nice next to the Misted Yellow. And the Aurora Red. This is the only time I will ever say that a grown adult wear primary colors.

Aurora Red: Like the Cobalt, the clear winner for me is using this for leather accessories: belts, gloves, shoes. I also think that red hats for the fall are nice. Y'know...matching the leaves and all. Goes lovely with Radiant Orchid as well.

Cypress: It's hard to pull this off without looking too military. I think it's a nice lipcolor to replace our usual black. You can see I paired it with Cognac shoes above. I think that's a nice match.

Sangria: For some reason, when you search for "radiant orchid" you get Sangria items. I think this is a very nice lip color and accessories color. And it was made to be paired with that yellow (even though I also usually hate complementary color pairings).

Cognac: I already covered how nice this is in the other colors.

Mauve Mist: It's basically the girlier Sea Fog. The two are interchangeable in my book.

Misted Yellow: This kind of mustardy yellow is my favorite yellow ever. It's the color of yellow fall leaves. I have a yellow pea coat like the one in the polyvore set above and it instantly makes me think of fall.

Radiant Orchid: The color of the year (I did a post on this). Personally, I think this color looks better with the fall colors than the spring.

Pantone Fall 2014

Pantone Fall 2014 featuring lips fo' heads and a damn good job of fitting human heads/wigs with polyvore separates

What are your favorite Fall 2014 colors? Believe it or not, my most worn color in the set is the mustard yellow. I have a pair of tights and the peacoat. I don't really own any in the other colors...even though those mauves are my favorite color...period. I've got nail polishes in those colors and they're probably my most-worn colors. I've got some amethyst earrings too. If I were to buy any of these colors, I'd definitely buy clothing in the mauve shades.

  1. I actually love most of these. Especially Sea Fog (which I originally read as Sea Frog which is a much more interesting name in my opinion.)

  2. Having drank copious quantities of it this summer, I can confirm that that is not the colour of Sangria.

I love the mustard yellow, though it probably wouldn't integrate very well into my wardrobe; it's been around for ages, though, so I definitely agree that Pantone doesn't seem to be very up to date on this selection. I love sea fog - I need more mature lilacs in my life!

  3. Ehh...right, they didn't get too creative this Fall, but I'm definitely going to add some Aluminium, Cypress, Cognac and Misted Yellow to my wardrobe and I might experiment with Sea Fog and Mauve Mist too. :)

    1. yeah, they were very safe this year, which I don't mind. The overall palette is very nice. I wish I could paint so I could paint a picture using these.

  4. I am not a yellow or orangey red person but the rest are nice. I am really into blue purple and green at the moment, and they all look really good with my currently blue hair!
