Trends I thought I loved, but now I'm not too keen on

Read more about the challenge here.

1. Leg warmers, short frilly skirts, goggles/gas masks with too much shit on them, hair falls. I'm pretty bored of it by now.

I used to LOVE LOVE this look--I used to wear this stuff every day--not just to the clubs. To show there's no hard feelings, here's an everyday look from me from 2002:

though I never liked the frilly skirt thing with cybergoth
gas mask with too much shit on it
2. same-old, same-old Lolita (ya know I loves the j-fashion!)
This used to be in the whole "I like this, but not for me" category. I love over-the-top anything, even saccharine cutsey stuff, but after like 15 years of the same-old lolita stuff, I'm getting pretty tired of it.

Occasionally, someone really makes the style their own, which is great (Isabelle--link to her lookbook, her blog is private). I've selected her non-petticoat looks, but she's got those too. Really original and I just love her looks to death. This is the kind of stuff I'm more in to.

and she can pull off the detached lace collar

3. Skeleton stuff, galaxy stuff, whatever's next

This is why I sometimes hate going online. You see something cool...and then you see it 10000000x. And before you even buy the damn thing you're already sick of it. Such is the case with the skeleton dresses, etc. Damn you, Black Milk.

  1. I never liked the frilly skirts with cyber either!

    1. yeah it doesn't fit the concept at all. so you're in a post-apocalyptic hellscape fighting the evil robots or whatever... and you're doing it in a TUTU

  2. I used to like cyber as well, but realized it wasn't my look much.
And I totally hate the galaxy and skeleton stuff. This shit has been flooding the mainstream fashion for too long now. I hate when people look the same ;)

  3. Thanks for sharing the link to Isabelle's lookbook. I agree with you that she does put a unique twist on her style- it's like something you would wear while listening to Rasputina and churning your own butter. Very nice.

  4. I'm still quite fond of the galaxy stuff, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I live in a part of The Netherlands where galaxy and skeleton prints haven't reached mainstream fashion yet, so you don't see anyone walking around in it.

  5. Yes, definitely have to agree with the skeleton thing!! :)
