Liquid Lipsticks (Long-wear matte lipcolor)

"Liquid lipsticks" have exploded all over the place. The only makeup I wear is lip color, and I've been wearing lip pencil exclusively for the past year. I can't stand the feel of lipstick on my lips: That's why the pencil is so awesome. They also last all day. I wrote about my favorite here. 

But liquid lipsticks promise all that and more: vivid colors, long wear, no-feel. I've seen a few people on instagram use it, and it seems like the miracle cosmetic. Here is a tutorial on how to wear it.

Red and Gold weeks

The past two weeks have been strange at work since my group was folded into a larger group. I'm in a new bigger department...my job's still the same but the work that my lean team of 3 is now being done by like 15 people. The levels of bureaucracy are amazing. I inherited an assistant and I now attend meetings with the other managers, so I'm suddenly very visible. To introduce myself to the group, I've been wearing a flashy combination of red and gold (lol and participating in the meetings). It's easy to disappear in a corporate setting. For better or for worse, I've chosen not to.  

For one thing, I now wear my septum, which I've never worn to the office. The hoop earrings are ridiculously flashy and cheap looking, but I like em.

Lipstick

Like a year ago, I discovered that I actually like lipstick. I used to think it was a pain (you can't kiss anyone, it gets all over your cups, and you've got to reapply it all the time). Still true. But it's the easiest way to transform your look. And you can fit a tube of lipstick in your pocket. And if you fuck up, you can wipe it off...easy. Most of the time I'm putting on makeup in a store window or a teeny NYC bathroom, so getting out brushes and eye pencils and whatever is such a pain. God help you if you fuck up your eyeliner with that super waterproof liquid eyeliner.

Orange Lipstick!

I'm too lazy to wear makeup these days, 

so I've ditched the rest of my makeup

in favor of a single tube of lipstick. Usually black. 

But that isn't always fun, so I just bought a tube of orange. 

Nothing was orange enough at sephora, so I had to get,

sigh, the Kat Von D brand lipstick. 

The other oranges were too coral or super-gloss or other tastelessness,

but the KVD lipstick was just the perfect matte.

And bought matching nail polish.

So I was pretty happy to see orange lipstick on the runway this year's fashion week:
