And now the year's almost over! Flew by, right? Miss the tattoo necklaces and raw minerals? See last year's
Trend Recap 2014. Here's the Trend Reap for 2015.
I feel like the trends from the past few years (occult symbols, printed leggings/body suits, cutout dresses, 90s shit) continued to this year, and nothing new has replaced them.
2014 Trend that continued to 2015: Moons
|
hope it continues to 2016! |
Hair trend: Buns
Also big boho braids
Cutout dresses/shirts lingerie
Goth Brand of the Year: H&M
Wha? H&M? Yeah, over the past few years, goths have stopped shopping for goth "brand" stuff since the modern look is a throwback to the old-school look, before there were any brands. There are also other reasons. Everyone's budgets are getting tighter, and it's hard to compete with low-cost fast-fashion retailers like H&M and F21. H&M in particular had a great selection of shapeless black things and shiny black things for sale this year. It's jaw-dropping how quickly they can knock off runway and indie designers these days. btw I was at the flagship store yesterday and they've got a home section now??
Honorable Mention: Kill Star
|
btw I bought this dress |
Body Mod of the year: still septum
Trend that didn't last too long: Macrame
Was everywhere for a few months, then gone
Did I miss anything?
Omg yes H&M!! I think i´ve shopped there mostly this year, I mean ONLY there!!! I didn´t even go to thrift stores that much. They have a home section? Hope this comes to Germany soon.
ReplyDeleteI have been planning a H&M outfit post actually, they have increased my consumerism habits like hell this year.
The home section was pretty cool! I only saw it at that location. It was like a girlier ikea
DeleteI don't go to H&M ( I THINK we might have had one open in Australia recently????)but I have heard they have good Gothy staples!
ReplyDeleteYeah, they do, but I'm personally not a fan of the quality. You get what you pay for
DeleteH&M has definitely proved to be the best for goth types this year! It's actually been a year of trends I really like? I'm hoping 2016 has as many good ones as this.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteI have found SO much gothy stuff at mainstream retailers this year!! We have had a home section in H&M for quite a while. I agree with your above comment about the quality for H&M......it is inexpensive and readily available but the clothes wash poorly and tend to not last very long.
ReplyDeleteLol guess it's mainstream now! Yeah... The quality...
DeleteI got my favourite dress from H&M year ago. I hope they won't stop making awesome collections.
ReplyDeleteI feel like nu-goth/ witchy style was a thing this year, even latest Restyle things are pretty much like this. So maybe this inspired H&M, too.
Probably!
DeleteI really like these trend posts! ^^
ReplyDeleteI'm glad! They are fun to write
DeleteYou're right, modern goth is pretty subtle. But it means I can stock up on basics to jazz up in my own way, although I tend to buy more clothes in the winter because the blacks and jewel tones are more to my taste, I'm constantly looking for items I can still wear for summer.
ReplyDeletesame here!
DeleteSadly my budget has been thrown into my flat most of the time so i didnt buy that many new clothes but in 2014 i enjoyed the simple black h&m stuff and diyed them into something 'useful'... And I still did not get any new piercing because i could not decide if i wanted to get that nostril for the 4th(?!) time or get a septum (but since i found a few of my old nostril jewelry... maybe i should start 2016 with that!
ReplyDeletewow you've had some bad luck with your nostril. maybe 5th time is the charm?
DeleteGreat post! I loved H&M's 2015 collections too, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I really hope the trend of occult symbolism and 'witchy' layered clothing continues in 2016.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm sure it'll continue
