High school makeup challenge!

So, in high school, I was thoroughly cyber, so of course my makeup mostly consisted of Kryolan UV glow eyeshadow, and liquid eyeliner, which I also used as lipstick. I wore the palest foundation I could, which I used my fingers to apply. And then I wondered why I had so much acne.

There's nothing like Kryolan. My makeup always matched my hair. It was usually green or purple. I didn't put my eye makeup on my lids with any plan... Just slopped it on. The eyeliner was just a simple wing tip. I didn't care about my brows. These photos are pretty accurate, except I also wore fake eyelashes. The longer, the better. I had a lot of time to get ready in early morning detention and homeroom.

I find it interesting how these days crazy colored eyeshadow isn't popular with the high school crowd. Maybe cause they don't sell blacklights anywhere anymore lol. The rest of my high school outfit would have been dreadfalls and necklaces and things that had blinking lights in them. And I wore a lot of homemade wire and cable jewelry. It was a whole-body look.

What was your high school makeup routine?

  1. Sounds cool! I have never seen anyone wearing things that elaborate (dread falls etc) to high school, but we do end to have strict dress codes in Australia so maybe that's why.

    1. I got in trouble for dress code stuff all the time...it was right after Columbine, when we got more security guards who just messed with the goth kids. Dog collars were somehow considered weapons! Everything was a weapon. It was so dumb. "If it's a weapon, why aren't you calling the cops?" I'd say, and then I'd get detention... There was a year or so when I was in detention more than I was in school.

  2. I haven't seen anyone sporting these bright eyeshadows in ages...:D I was romatic/medieval in high school and my makeup routine consisted of black eyeshadow smeared all over my eye sockets, black eyeliner, those super long, uneven fake party lashes and either black, bright red or dark purple lipstick...:D I still have the purple one, it's quite nice...

    1. I did the romantic look too for a while...Im glad I still kept some of those outfits because they are much more wearable... And some things are actually coming back! Wish I kept more bell sleeves...

  3. Oh lordy lol my high school make up was pretty fruity at times. I stuck mostly to just black eyeliner and plum eye shadow but some days I'd go a bit weird and do a bunch of Burtonesque swirls and stars, the Twiggy thing, and sometimes I'd wear hot pink eye shadow. I never wore lipstick, wasn't a fan of it back then. Accessories were often chunky plastic jewelry for little kids, because it looked cool. I like the Kryolan eye shadow, that's hot.

    1. I so wanted to do the swirls, but I never could get them even!

  4. This reminded me of my old Kryolan UV Aquacolor palette.....R.I.P. I am pretty sure that in high school I wore foundation and a shitload of black liquid eyeliner + mascara and that's about it. I sometimes wore silver lipgloss and eyeshadow. I think I was more concerned with how many holes I could rip in my tights and how to maximise the amount of safety pins I could have on my person at one time, LOL.

  5. Kryolan stuff has serious staying power! I would have loved to have some cybergoths in my high school. There were a few goths, but my first encounter with cybers was at a festival, and I remember staring at them because they all looked so awesome :)
My high school makeup? Pale foundation, kohl-rimmed eyes, layers and layers of mascara and, if I was feeling brave, dark berry lips. Obviously, I had zero skills and no idea how to apply the stuff. But hey, you live and learn, right?
