So, for today, I'm going to move away from fashion/beauty to offer a--surprise!--bar review. Stay with me. This is for Big Bar in NYC. What kind of bar is Big Bar? well, from yelp:
Don't be mistaken by the name, Big Bar is tiny. Surprisingly, it was fairly empty when we stopped by Saturday night but it filled up shortly before we took off on a quest for our next destination.
No frills. One beer on tap.
Big Bar is nothing you'd stop in your tracks for. You would not think twice about this bar. It is: Unnotable, Unimportant, Easily Overlooked
EXCEPT for one thing: the RED lights everywhere, coloring EVERYTHING in red and black (full size of the place, btw):
It's so random... the decor of this place hasn't been touched since the power-suit 80s,.... but RED LIGHT. The place is exclusively lit by red light... with no explanation. With a place that tiny it's actually pretty overwhelming. I don't even know what color the walls are. they could be lime green for all I know. Red light is pretty common for most bars....but I've never seen anything with this intensity. the place is like sitting next to a red light bulb. these photos aren't like 10 second exposures here.
EVEN THE BATHROOM, EVEN THE BATHROOM:
on an unrelated note, check out the triple reflection |
We ended up taking a photos in the red light...you can tell these are a bit old since i've got my long hair still:
hmmmmm red-lighted 80s bar. |
so for a bit we pretended to be yuppies. btw this jacket is like neon yellow... |
then drug dealers, cause everything under a red light looks sinister (my sis btw) |
and then drunk people being amused by mirrors (i actually have about 80 mirror pictures next) |
75 E 7th St, Manhattan, NY, if you want to make every night Red and Black Week.
